Sojok Beef Sausage: Bold Levantine Flavour

Sojok — also spelled soujouk or sujuk — delivers boldly spiced flavour popular across the Levant. We make ours with 100% halal beef and season every link with garlic, cumin, paprika, and a warm spice blend. As a result, the flavour hits rich, savoury, and aromatic in every bite. Our butchers hand-stuff each batch fresh at our Laval shop. No fillers, no preservatives, and no shortcuts.

How to Cook Sojok Beef Sausage

Slice into thin rounds and pan-fry on medium heat for five to seven minutes. Then flip once the edges turn crispy and the fat starts to render. For whole links, grill over medium heat for 12 to 15 minutes. Turn every few minutes so all sides brown evenly. Cook to an internal temperature of 71°C (160°F), the level Health Canada recommends for ground beef. Rest two minutes before serving.

You can also bake sojok in the oven at 400°F for 15 minutes. Furthermore, this method works well when you prepare a full breakfast spread. Place the slices on a sheet pan in a single layer. As a result, the oven heat crisps the edges while keeping the centre juicy.

Best Ways to Serve Sojok

The classic way is with eggs for a hearty breakfast. Fry the sojok slices first, then crack the eggs into the same pan. Consequently, the eggs absorb all the spiced fat and pick up bold flavour. Serve with warm pita, olives, and fresh mint on the side.

Sojok also shines on a mezze platter. Arrange the sliced rounds alongside hummus, labneh, pickles, and flatbread. Moreover, it works perfectly tucked into pita with tomato, onion, and garlic sauce. Plus, thin slices make a great topping on flatbread pizza or manakish.

Why Choose Our Sojok

At Boucherie Beirut, we prepare our sojok fresh in-house every week. We use halal beef only and follow a traditional Levantine spice ratio. Specifically, the garlic and cumin balance gives our sojok its bold, signature depth. Every link comes portioned by hand for even size and cooking. We never use artificial colours or flavour enhancers.
