Makanek Beef Sausage: Traditional Lebanese Flavour
Makanek are traditional Lebanese-style sausages, and ours are made with 100% halal beef. We season each link with warm spices for a rich, tangy flavour. Every batch is stuffed fresh by hand at our Laval shop. Specifically, the mix uses cinnamon, allspice, and pine nuts for that classic taste. As a result, there are no fillers and no shortcuts.
How to Cook Makanek Beef Sausage
Pan-fry on medium heat for 10 to 15 minutes until browned. Then turn them every few minutes for even colour. For a classic touch, add lemon juice in the last minute. Consequently, the acid lifts the spices and adds fresh flavour. Cook to an internal temperature of 71°C (160°F), as Health Canada recommends for ground beef. Rest briefly before serving.
You can also grill makanek on skewers over medium heat. Thread three to four links per skewer. Grill for 8 to 10 minutes. As a result, the char adds a smoky layer that pairs well with the spices.
Best Ways to Serve Makanek
Serve makanek as a mezze alongside hummus, labneh, and warm pita. Furthermore, they also make a great wrap filling with pickled turnips, garlic sauce, and fresh vegetables. Moreover, for breakfast add makanek to a spread with eggs, olives, tomatoes, and flatbread. They are a hit at any table, from weeknight meals to Eid feasts.
Why Choose Our Makanek
At Boucherie Beirut, we make our makanek fresh in-house using halal beef only. Notably, the recipe is fully traditional with no additives. Plus, each link is hand-stuffed for even size and cooking. We use the same quality beef that goes into all our premium products.
